Meet the Team

At our firm, we have the client—and only the client—in mind.

Our reasons for becoming financial professionals are deeply personal. We repeatedly saw many friends and family struggling to find the help they needed to map out their financial future. We are confident that with our understanding of personal finance, coupled with our training as financial professionals, we can help people better prepare for the future. After years in the business, we have developed a reputation for educating individuals in an easy-to-understand manner so they can grasp personal finance and use those concepts to pursue their financial objectives. We feel a commitment to our community.

At our firm, we have the client—and only the client—in mind.

Over the years, we have found that a team approach can be an effective method to help clients who have a wide variety of needs as they maneuver through a complex financial-services world. We invite you to discover and experience the power of our services. We believe it has far-reaching benefits for our clients to get opinions from several sources with diverse backgrounds, education, and experience.

No one strategy fits everyone, which is why every client gets our undivided attention—from planning to execution to follow-up. We take a proactive approach to helping you develop a strategy to address your financial goals and objectives, using the most efficient methods available.

Heidi Hansen

Loyalty – Duty – Respect – Selfless Service – Honor – Integrity – Personal Courage

After spending over a decade serving as a civilian attorney for the U.S. Army in multiple capacities, including volunteering to serve six months in Baghdad, Iraq in 2007, acting as District Counsel in Seoul, Korea, and serving six years in the Pentagon for the U.S. Army General Counsel’s office, the above Army values have become part of my fabric – they have stuck with me during my two plus years serving the American people at the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, as Deputy Commissioner for the Alaska Department of Natural Resources, for the Alaska Native shareholders I served through work at their corporations, and now as a wealth manager.

My father passed away unexpectedly in 2018 and left me a modest brokerage account about which I became deeply engaged and passionate, finding myself studying the market daily.  I quickly passed the Series 6, 63, 65, and 7 securities exams as well as received the Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor designation.

I find public service incredibly rewarding, but I find helping people chart the path they envision for themselves and creating the freedom that financial wellness provides even more rewarding.  I meet clients where they are and help them get to where they want to be, whether that is as an individual wealth manager or as a qualified plan financial advisor.  I believe that with focus, hard work, and perseverance, we will achieve your goals, financial and otherwise.

Local government and small business owners are the backbone of our country – their success in large part reflects the success of our communities, particularly in Alaska.  Because of my juris doctor, I believe I have a heightened sense of the fiduciary role I play in qualified plans.  I find great satisfaction helping individual participants navigate what can feel like a daunting exercise in the qualified plan space.

Further, small businesses succeed every day with or without a financial advisor.  However, I have found working collaboratively as a team with small business owners to be incredibly fulfilling and I fervently believe our work allows those community leaders to: magnify their success through the growth of their businesses; bolster employee retention through education on and provision of prudent qualified plans (ie. Simple 401(k), etc.); and improve their business operating agreements to ensure long-term owner and/or operator success.

I would be honored to work in partnership with you with the same care and attention those Army values have meant to me since 2005.

Karen, with a masters degree in both finance and music, had a previous career teaching piano and voice lessons before pivoting to wealth management, which she has devotedly done for over 35 years. Shortly after joining the industry, both of Karen’s parents started to physically fail, and she learned some very hard health and financial lessons taking care of them, which she uses as a north star with her clients today.  A couple of those key lessons: If you can’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of anyone else; and elderly care can financially wipe you and the next generation out – plan ahead.  Karen holds the Series 6, 63, and 65 securities licenses, is a Life Underwriting Training Council Fellow, and is an active member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, Anchorage Estate Planning Council, American Association of Life Underwriters, and Society of Financial Professionals.

Micah brings more than two decades of advisory experience to the Far Point Financial wealth management team, having transitioned into financial services after a successful career in the legal profession.

Her background spans business consulting, public policy, and project management. Over the course of her career, Micah has advised small businesses on strategies to drive revenue growth, helped Fortune 500 companies navigate complex regulatory environments, and led the implementation of multi-billion-dollar federal government programs.

Known for her initiative, adaptability, and solutions-oriented approach, she thrives on tackling complex challenges, quickly building subject-matter expertise, and delivering practical solutions that enhance the client experience.

Outside the world of finance, Micah is most at home with a microphone in hand. As a voice actor, she brings stories and ideas to life in commercials, digital ads, and audio dramas across television, radio, and podcasts. When she’s not in her broadcast-quality home studio, she can be found onstage performing stand-up comedy… because whether it’s a client, a listener, or a live audience, meaningful connection (and good timing) always matters.

Jeremy joined our office in 2021 and has become the glue of our team.  He studied engineering before joining our firm and is often the first touch point a client has with our office.  Jeremy wears too many hats to enumerate, but chiefly he is client support and our tech guru.  And most telling, our office dogs love him.  You will too.

Susan Klusman holds a Series 6, Life Insurance, and Property and Casualty licenses.  We snatched her up after a storied career of over 20 years in the industry, most recently at Jackson National.  She’s well versed in all things annuities, IRAs, and back office support.  If Susan does not know the answer, she will neither fake it nor punt – she will hunt it down and triple check the accuracy before sending it forward.  She is our secret weapon.
